Discussions

Hi Victor, Great chatting with you last meeting. Echoing Greg here - straightforward design, no major issues. The only change I'd suggest is possibly removing the entire logo area / header - it uses up a lot of space, and the photo of the church is both warm and polished, so why not feature that? You could just tuck a small serif logo into the top-left area of the navigation - and possibly make the menu links larger to make navigation more intuitive. One of the best made church sites (and weever apps) I've seen is here: http://weeverapps.com/apps/item/143-souls-harbour Each faith community is different of course, but this one really gets the social aspect of youth engagement and activities really well - lots of emphasis on events and recent works. Best, Andrew

Hi Theresa, I believe that issue tends to happen to with 'artisteer' made templates. If you check the Joomla!.org forums or the artisteer forums, you should find the issue - I think it's a version problem.

A few ideas off the top of my head: - Coding & Designing for Accessibility - HTML5+CSS3 Standards - Joomla! and The Mobile Web - Customer Resource Management (CRM) Options - Tips & Tricks - Smart Site Architectures (Kiss Principle Design) - Lean / Agile Development Workflows - 'Hardening' Joomla! 1.0 and 1.5 (Security) - Multi-Lingual Web Sites On some of these there seem to be experts on the group - on others maybe a roundtable format would be useful, I'm not sure...

Hi Greg,

I'm a big fan of Joomla Bamboo, but everyone has their favorites.

For mobile - http://weeverapps.com/free !

Responsive design is a great way to have good CSS that works for multiple screen sizes - but that's only step 1 in driving mobile engagement, leads and real results. We built Weever Apps for a mobile context, that is - to put out click-to-call, social and other features 'out front' for mobile users - and to drive installs and re-engagment with organizations and brands (e.g, standard app vs. site advantages).

For Google Analytics - anything works. I usually use the BigShot Google Analytics plugin - free and works nicely.

Best,
Andrew H.

Hello. We're researching Joomla! template frameworks. An ideal framework would use responsive design, be mobile friendly, have social and Google Analytics integration, built in browser compatibility and would be fast. Any suggestions?

Ready for the January 6, 2011 meeting. Can't wait to hear what Tony Scott from Akira has to say, especially about one of the bane's of my existence, VirtueMart.

These meetings take a fair bit of effort to coordinate, not to mention the sponsorship from Picassofish is always great. Always nice to hobnob with you guys... great effort by many of you.
