Put the subject: Windows Software For Joomla
Hello James,
Could you please throw some more light on it? What exactly is that tool and what additional you want the tool to do when integrated as a Joomla component?
Regards,
Shishir
I can do that.
The third party tool makes a graphic file based on information the website user will input. This software comes with demo scripts to show how the core php files can be used. It's mostly form based, so it's easy to understand. I can create the forms I need.
The end result that I need to add to the third party software is that I need the graphics file emailed to the user.
So there would be a form page/php script. Which would post to a worker page/script. Done.
The worker page/script would use the php require statement to include the code from the third party tool. The require script would be a variable based on a radio/dropdown choice in the form.
Does that sound do-able? Interested in getting involved with this project?
Or maybe there's an ajax approach. I don't know how ajax is architected. Obviously from the above I might be a little old school in my form/post thinking. :)
I need an extension where I can set up user specific fields. In these fields I will store web links. Each user will have their own set of links- thus the reason they are user specific fields. Each link will have a companion name/label for the link, but that's not material initially. Then, when signed in, the user and only the user would have access to their links. Ideally it would be a menu type of module that showed the user their data, or the menu info could appear into the existing site menu. A component - a page the user selects to access their links would be acceptable, but not my favorite idea by far. Making the links edit-able user data is not going to work. So the user profile should not expose this data to the user on their "edit my profile" page, nor is it to be exposed to the public - for the user's eyes only (and they have no input as to what links are added to their profile - I do that).
All I've thought of is to use K2, set up a category and create custom fields in that category, and setup the links as content in a K2 item. Each user would have their own K2 item, and thus would have ACL tied to just that user for the item that had their links. I haven't done the whole thing so I'm not sure I could pull that off, but I think that could work, but is not efficient as I'd have a set up a K2 item for each user.
K2 offers custom fields per user - Joomlaworks made a plugin called User Extended Fields, and I believe the fields can be customized as to what fields are added to the user record (or some relational table that ties to the user record). It's foggy as to how I'd publish that data to *just* that user - ie these links are not public profile information which is what this K2 plugin is designed to do - provide additional user profile info such as their social links, and more. The public side code might be modifiable, but I wouldn't be the one to do any more than hack around with that.
Any ideas for me?
Hello James,
I guess what you need can be better accomplished using Community Builder instead of K2 since K2 will bind the custom fields to the content/articles however you need to associate the custom fields to users, which community builder does. You can also configure community builder to define which fields will be editable, which will be not and who can see the fields (public, private, registered).
Shishir.
Do you think any VoIP service provider like Skype may provide such interface?
did you mean to post this comment here or in your other group? :)
Looks like I posted it at wrong place, thanks for noticing :-D
