Hi Karl. Perhaps the group was deleted due to this http://people.joomla.org/groups/viewbulletin/595-PJO+spring+cleaning+(group+archiving).html?groupid=7
Thanks Manoel J. Silva, just had a meeting and posted it here and most all other things were done. I just updated to info on community.joomla.org/user-groups.html – It would be great if I could get some help with this just moved to Orange County and have a lot more interest going on about Joomla in general in this area.
was it a group you created?
can you remember its ID number? or the actual url/name? otherwise i will get one of the "sadmins" to look for it.
I created a new one. Just in case had a few new members sign up
not expect to many people
Use any available marketing tools as possible.
( In using my group site at ( theplanetjoomla.com – Meetup – and people.joomla.org to post my events )
My plan is to do one a week in cities that have 100,000 plus populations within 20 miles.
I have picked Las Vegas,Nevada and the central coast of California as a permanent bases.
Then I will promote events in other cities around those cities. Try to develop groups the turn them over to locals to run if the take off.
I need my group for ( Joomla users Nevada ) approved that would be sweet.
Karl, that does sound like a great plan, it should be very beneficial to the Joomla! community. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
As far as your JUG, if you would like to be listed on the community site, please create an account and submit a listing at: http://community.joomla.org/user-groups.html
You won't be able to list with a state name so your JUG name for listing purposes needs to be something like: Joomla! User Group Las Vegas.
You will also need to get your domain name approved by OSM, you can start that process here: http://opensourcematters.org/domain-name-use-request.html
Thanks again!
Karl, that sounds great. Please let us know if there is anyway we can assist you.
Just realized that our group does not show up in the Indiana list here: http://community.joomla.org/user-groups/north-america/united-states/indiana.html
How do I get it there? The group was approved about 3 months ago.
Is there a reason its removed ?
When the new User Group system was put in place, all listing from the old system (both active and pending) were transferred to the new system. Unfortunately some of those listings were for groups that were no longer active or not valid. So a cleanup procedure was created. Per the announcement posted here and the email sent to the primary contact of all posted User Groups, any group that did not updated their list since August 13th was considered inactive and automatically unpublished on September 30.
If your listing is no longer published, you should resubmit. I do see that a new entry for Pune has been submitted this week.
If it's possible to list us under more than one state in your directory, we would greatly appreciate it.
thanks,
Jen
It is not possible to list a user group in more than one state due to limitations in the system. In general, we ask groups to name themselves for a city or metro area to encourage local groups with regular physical meetings, to reduce confusion, and to provide naming fairness across groups.
Elin Waring approved our name in March 2008. We are physically located in Vermont. We are 100 yards from New Hampshire and 12 miles from Massachusetts.
I would ask that the system be improved to accommodate more than one state. There are other user groups in this predicament. NOVA joomla serves Virginia, Maryland, and DC. If there were a group in Kansas City, it would serve Missouri and Kansas. I don't think you can limit groups to one state arbitrarily.
thanks,
Jen
Hi Karl, we are looking at the options we have for allowing JUGs to list events. We will keep you posted. The link is correct, but Jomsocial included the period at the end of the sentence as part of the url. I corrected it below.
