I'm the new kid on the block but I have experience with this a little bit. I have used three different applications to make "How to" videos while working at American Express Global Solutions. There is a best practice that I have learned and that is to "Script" the content that is going to be presented. That way the content can be translated easily for a majority of languages using Google Translator for the scripting or some other translation method yet to be defined. By easily I mean using the translations and time-line to try and sync them as closely as possible. Then find someone who speaks that translation within the "time frame" of the presentation. They don't even have to view the video if they know the timing of pauses, and vocal style of the original video timeline. In effect a Dub over. That way you get the text translation as an overlay and a vocal overlay to boot. Well... that's my two cents. BTW, I've used RoboDemo, Captivate and Camtasia Studio for EN versions in my line of work to make the videos.

Using the J!YT (hashtag anyone?) for PR of course should be part of the goals for the channel. I do think, however, that education is extremely important for the channel too. It really is multi-faceted (the same way the community is multi-faceted). What I think will help even more with that is "Playlists". There are 2 currently created: 1.6 Quick Looks & Leadership Interviews - This also helps when using various embedding features, etc (i.e., I can embed a playlist in an appropriate area, etc) Also, we can create Favourite lists for videos that are posted elsewhere and that we might not be able to upload to the actual channel. Thanks for starting this discussion - seems a great way to define the J!YT audience!

FYI, here's a module I wrote that displays a random YouTube video from a given user's account. It uses the Google Data API to do this;
