Hi Bec, thanks for joining. I'd like to say it is more active than it is, but as you have seen it's not overly active :). Dex is usually the most active here publishing notices on events.
Always happy to welcome new people to the group, like yourself, that want to discuss Joomla in Australia. I am also happy to add new admins to the group if that would spur on some more activity etc.
The main purpose of this group was to have a central Australian JUG group that could be used to promote and announce events, meetings and everything else for all other Australian JUG information here, i.e state groups, area groups and so in within Australia. I guess I was hoping all other admins of any other Australian JUG's would join and post their groups stuff here as well. I am sure if they did they may attract others to their groups via this one.
The other purpose was to hopefully use this JUG as a platform for any major Joomla events in Australia, e.g. an annual Australian Joomla Conference or similar.
I guess for the group to be active it needs people in the group to post and also have new people come along, join and then post here.

It would also be great if the State Australian JUG's (and members of them) could join with us as from what I can see numbers are low and a joint group may just be the answer. It might even allow us to organize and arrange Joomla Australia meets and greets with occasional social events.
Either way having an 'Australian' Joomla User Group felt like the right thing to have :)

Hey there. Matt from the newly formed JUG Fraser Coast. Started it more for local people wanting to meet at a local restaurant and talk everything Joomla! Even though we are in Hervey Bay, it is open to anyone from Queensland. Hoping to have a first meeting in July.

Good news, PerthJUG is now JUGWA, so now it is for the whole state and not just the city of Perth. Hopefully they and other Australian JUG groups will co-join AusJUG so we can build a large Australian based Joomla community. so spread the word everyone!
