I always handle 404 in my .htaceess file for the user, there is no Direct help for seo but its better to have nö 404 in the Index.
@ David Kauzlaric ... I tried sh404SEF on my site (It is built on K2 only). With cache on sh404SEF has created gigantic cache folder in several hours (over 1,5GB) and totally overloaded my server disk. Such an activity was confirmed by other user to me.
@ Merav... all you write above is true but not as according to K2 - iJoomlaSEO creates on K2 sites metatags only. Additionally iJoomlaSEO it is not compatible with Joomfish :-(. You can check it on my www.witraze.info site (Polish metatags on English version)
I am looking for extension which can add metatags to menu items (with Jooomfish activeated) now.
One of the fastest SEO templates was created waaayyyy back in 2006, it was Simplicity from Joomlashack. It took quite a few years for Joomla templates to stop adding code and start making it slimmer... this has only been a recent trend.

I agree about no advertising, but many commercial sites have their own blogs in order to generate traffic and inspire trust to their potential customers by sharing really worthy info, just to recall some of them, there are compassdesigns.net alledia.com and mine of course ...hehe
